Match Report

Lacking a few of the regular starting players, and following last minute inclusions from returning injured players, Cooke went down looking forward to what would undoubtedly be a tough match. Galweigans were first to put points down after a try from a lost Cooke line out.
However, Cooke came back with 2 tries from Gemma McCutcheon and Brittany Hogan, one converted by Jemma Jackson, before the break. Weigans replied with their own try shortly before the end of the 1st half.
Unfortunately the second half saw Cooke frustratingly unable to score despite being camped in the Galweigans 22 for long periods of time, along with sustained and strong defence work. With only 10 minutes to go, the Belfast team were ahead 12-10. However, the Weigans big forward carriers were able to bust through the line for two tries of their own in the second half, both converted, with Cooke unable to return the points.
A disappointed Cooke returned north, unable to even secure a losing bonus point. We will rebuild. Looking forward to having our full complement of players available next weekend for a home fixture against Tullamore in which we will be looking to secure a very important bonus point win.
