A newly established Cooke Women’s 2nd XV took part in the Ulster Rugby X7s blitz in Portadown on Sunday 9th September.
The squad included Isobel Harris, former U18 girls player, who had the chance to experience senior rugby for the first time at the blitz in preparation for the Conference League. Other new players included Lauren Pedlow and Laura Cairns who have recently joined Cooke RFC to give rugby a try. Both are hockey players and took the opportunity of joining the 2nd XV to play rugby in a development environment. The team won 2 out of 3 of their matches against North Down RFC, Lisburn RFC and hosts Portadown RFC.
The squad, under the leadership of newly appointed coaches Daniel Allen and Kevin Simpson, are looking forward to their first fixture which will be away to Randalstown on Sunday 7th October 1pm KO.
